Ramirez Makes History
For the first time since 2007, FMF/KTM put forth a factory effort, but not without the help of Bonanza Plumbing and a solid team to take on the challenge. Ivan Ramirez and Kurt Caselli teamed up for the 2012 San Felipe 250 again after a tough run in 2011. Kurt began the race and Ivan picked up the bike at mile 30. “When I got to mile 110, Anthony and Tony did a great job changing my tire. Then I relaxed, drank some water, and then I was ready for the next miles ahead. When I got off at my last pit, RM-150, there were only 20 miles left and my job was over. I knew those were the roughest miles so I just rode safe trying not to make any mistakes. Finally I got to RM-170 and gave Kurt the bike as best as I could.” Stated Ramirez. As Ivan and KTM awaited to greet his teammate at the finish, Kurt came across, being the first bike to complete the race. The crowd swarmed the team and congratulated Ivan on not only his finish, but that he was the first Mexican in the history of San Felipe 250 to win the race. “I’m enormously grateful to all the people who helped, especially Bonanza Plumbing, FMF/KTM and RED BULL.” Look for the pair to compete in the remaining SCORE Baja races in both June and November.
